Exclusive Interview with Judi Jai

I was honored to interview Judith Camille Jackson, also known as Judi Jai. Last time we caught up with Judi, she had just released a thriller novel called Fou: Till Death Do Us Part. This time she has more things in the works! With an EP, a second book and a new hot sauce flavor, she has much to catch us up on!

Tell us what’s new with you!– OMG! What isn’t new with me? Haha! No seriously. So much has changed these last few years. I guess the biggest changes is I enrolled back in college to finish my last year. I graduate in March of 2021 with my Bachelors of Arts degree! Broadcast journalism and I am so excited. I’ve been wanting to go back and finish for years and I finally am now, from Columbia College Chicago to Ashford University! I am also on a spiritual journey as well and have been since 2015.

So we hear you will dropping you very first EP. This is big! What made you decide to79263665_431510147794488_1528195251347390464_n do this EP? – I was suppose to drop a mixtape called “Ahead of my Time” back in 2016. I had the cover art ready and everything, but the producer who was helping with that project was a flop. He’s like a minister or something now. A total joke. But I told myself now or never. Time is passing by, and I have been releasing music for years and I would regret not ever putting out a body of work, an actual album.

What would you say the overall tone and genre of this project is? – I am definitely a lyricist. I have grown so much in my music since my first songs, like growth as in what I am talking about. I’ve always been great at rapping. Haha! It is definitely rap/HipHop and some R&B. I write all my music.

How many songs are on your EP? – 6, not too much. I want people to catch the vibe without being forced to.

Is there anything specific that inspired your music? – Definitely my spiritual journey and growth. Letting go, holding on. Closing doors and allowing the universe to open new ones. Putting certain things to an end, rest. Peace, forgiveness, understanding. Rebirth.

78949005_601172060627323_1513857821584654336_nWhen will this project be available for the world to hear? – I don’t have an exact release date, but “Superstitious” will definitely be out 2020

There has also been talk of you coming out with your second book! What inspired you to write this book: The Memoir of a Krazi Creole? – My first book “FOU” was a fantasy thriller dedicated to my parents, and with this book I wanted to go deeper into my real life. I want to let my fans see everything. I want them to get to know me more on a personal level, something reality tv only catches a glimpse of. I want them to know what molded me into the woman I am, and to hopefully inspire others. I feel like me turning 30, it is a new chapter in my life and to move forward you have to acknowledge the past, and I want to78883353_2876579399039083_7180361136162734080_n let my fans know where I come from, and what I have been through. Many judge but not many know what storms God has asked me to walk through.

Can you tell us a little bit more about the book? – It will be amazing! A roller coaster of emotions, ups and downs just like life.

When can we expect to be able to read this book? – No release date as well but I am pushing for a 2020 release as well.

So, we’ve known about Judi’s Voodoo Hot Sauce for some time. Tell us about this Jazzy Jerk flavor hot sauce and how it’s different from the others? – Each sauce I do is different! There is my original sauce, and then all the limited edition flavors. Jazzy Jerk will be my fourth sauce, but my third limited edition flavor following after Chipotle and Medicated Verde. I love the islands and I love spicy food, so I wanted to shine light on the delicious flavors of the Jamaican, and island cultures. Being Créole, with roots from Louisiana, you know the city of New Orleans is filled with Haitian influence. I wanted to give my fans the jazzy flavors of the Caribbean.
78843150_825284731224152_8423759528473919488_nWhen will the hot sauce hit the shelves and where can we find it? – It will be released in Spring of 2020 and you can grab it on my website, along with all my other products on SoJudiJai.com. My sauces also go into black owned restaurants around the city of Atlanta as well so stay tuned on where this flavorful and sassy sauce will be.

I see you are still a woman who wears many hats! Are there any specific techniques you use to help you juggle all of these things? – I meditate every day! I always take like a 3 hour long bath or shower, with spiritual salts and oils, I turn on my jacuzzi jets and play soft zen music while I relax, no lights on just my salt lamp. It’s very comforting, helps ease my anxiety, and helps clear my mind, body and soul. I suggest meditation to everyone!

Is there anything else you would like your fans, followers and supporters to know? – I encourage everyone to travel more and create more art! Traveling doesn’t have to be expensive and I can help with your next trip! From where to go, where to stay, what to eat and what to do! I love travel blogging and food blogging and I encourage everyone to go some places they’ve never been once a year. Spend money on experiences and not things. More life for 2020! ALSO, I’ll be back on you TV screens so stay tuned!
